Privacy Policy
Last Updated: [May 23, 2025]
Welcome to ImageTools ("us", "we", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website and its associated image editing tools (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Do Not Collect (Core Image Tools)
A core principle of ImageTools is user privacy and client-side processing. For the vast majority of our tools (including but not limited to image compression, conversion, resizing, rotation, background removal, upscaling, grayscale application, and color inversion):
- We do not upload your images to our servers. All image processing occurs directly in your web browser (client-side).
- We do not store your original or processed images. Once you close your browser tab or navigate away, the images you were working with are gone from a Service perspective, as they resided only in your browser's memory during processing.
- We do not collect personal information through the use of these image tools. You are not required to create an account or provide any personal data to use these core features.
2. Information Collected Through the Contact Form
If you choose to contact us using the contact form on our website, we will collect the information you provide, which may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The reason for contact
- The subject of your message
- The content of your message
We use this information solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiries, feedback, or support requests. We will not use this information for marketing purposes unless you explicitly consent to it, nor will we share it with third parties except as required by law, or to the third-party form handling service (e.g., Formspree) as outlined in Section 8.
3. Cookies, Local Storage, and Client-Side Preferences
ImageTools uses localStorage in your browser for specific client-side functionalities to enhance your experience. This includes:
- Consent Preferences: Storing your choices regarding our use of cookies and similar technologies as provided through our consent banner.
- Theme Preferences: If you provide consent, we store your preferred website theme (light/dark mode) so it can be applied on subsequent visits.
This information is stored locally in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers. These are considered functional storage mechanisms necessary for remembering your choices.
Beyond this functional storage and the cookies used by Google Analytics (for which we request your consent, as detailed in Section 4), ImageTools does not use other cookies for tracking or advertising purposes directly related to the core image editing tools.
4. Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our Service is used, such as which pages are visited, which tools are most popular, and how users navigate our site. This information helps us improve ImageTools and provide a better user experience.
Google Analytics collects information anonymously, including:
- The pages you visit on our site
- The time you spend on each page
- The type of browser and operating system you are using
- Your IP address (which we have configured Google Analytics to anonymize by default before storage and processing).
- The website you came from, if you clicked a link to reach us
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf.
By using ImageTools, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. You can learn more about Google's practices by going to Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
Opting Out of Google Analytics: You can opt-out of having your activity on the Service made available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. You can download and install the add-on here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Managing Your Consent and Preferences
When you first visit ImageTools, we present a banner informing you about our use of technologies like localStorage (for theme preferences) and cookies (for analytics), and request your consent.
If you accept, your choices are stored in your browser's localStorage. This helps us remember your preferences for future visits and ensures we only activate services like Google Analytics if you have agreed.
You have control over your consent:
- Google Analytics: You can opt-out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by following the instructions in Section 4 ("Opting Out of Google Analytics").
- Stored Preferences (Theme & Consent): To reset your consent choices and theme preference (which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit), you can clear your browser's
localStoragefor imagetools.cloud, or clear all site data for imagetools.cloud through your browser settings. Please refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions on how to do this.
Please note that if you clear these settings, you will be asked for your consent again upon your next visit. Any saved theme preference will be lost, and the site theme will revert to your system's preference or our site default until a new theme choice is made and consented to for storage.
6. How We Use Your Information (Contact Form Data)
Information collected via the contact form is used to:
- Respond to your questions, comments, or support requests.
- Improve our Service based on your feedback or suggestions.
7. Data Security (General Practices)
While most of our Service operates client-side without data transmission to our servers, for any data that might be transmitted (e.g., via the contact form, or if we implement server-side features in the future), we aim to use commercially acceptable means to protect it. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
For client-side operations, the security of your images is inherently high as they are not transferred from your device to us.
8. Third-Party Services
Our contact form submissions are processed by Formspree. When you submit the contact form, your data is sent to Formspree to be processed and forwarded to us. Formspree's privacy policy can be found at https://formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
As mentioned above, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. Please refer to Section 4 for details on Google Analytics.
Our website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold if stipulated by local laws). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from children without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
